Herbal Hair Color
Herbal hair colors are also used at The Cowrie Shell Center. I will assist clients with the decision to color their hair, I will let you know that by altering your hair with the use of hair color, your hair is no longer 100% natural...since it has be change! So before applying the hair color, I will let you know that coloring your hair will take some getting used to, the new color or shade and sometimes the drier texture.
Natural hair color enhancers( chamomile, red onions and rosemary) are more gentle and will not strip your hair. They work on the shine and color that you already have. Henna can also be uses as a color enhancer; this will give you some color for a period of time. Neutral henna will not color your hair, it conditions and for some, enhances the shine. Henna can be used to color small amounts of gray. ( Gray hair is hair that has lost it's pigment due to a copper deficiency and can be extremly resistant to recieving or holding hair color. Good luck!) Pure lemon juice will bleach your hair with the help of direct sunlight, but it will also dry and damage your hair, so will peroxide!
Natural hair colors are a blend of plant roots, black annatto and a variety of other herbs, plants, barks and roots that stain. Henna is also used and is known to leave the hair feeling dry. For that reason, I will add a little olive oil to a henna color mixture to give your locs a moisturizing balance. Then I will deep treat your crown with ANCIENT BLENDS HAIR AND SCALP BLESSING HERBAL RINSE followed by ANCIENT BLENDS HAIR AND SCALP BLESSING OIL, warmed and massage into you scalp and locs.
There are several companies that are suppling herbal hair colors. The best place to find them is in your nearest health food store in the natural beauty section. The colors are very natural looking and will require reqular conditioning so that your locs remain healthy and vibrant!
